Raise a Dram for World Whisky Day

As recruiters for Scotland’s makers, it’s no surprise we’ve worked closely with many of the Whisky producers across the country.

We’ve recruited for small independent distillers, to those who are part of major international brands. Distilleries dating back hundreds of years to those starting up new sites, continuing the traditions of old well into the 21st century.

Our role, in this unique and historic industry has been to source the skills, knowledge and experience needed to ensure that legacies are protected, new technologies are embraced and of course, quality remains at the heart of everything.

This Saturday, 21st May is World Whisky Day, a day of global celebration of all things whisky and with that in mind we wanted to acknowledge the many incredible distilleries we work with.

In Scotland, whisky is often referred to as the water of life and we have found it’s with this same spirit that the whisky industry is a key part of Scottish life.

Our recruiters are fortunate to have had tours of many of distilleries, their bottling halls, warehouses and visitors’ centres (possibly with the odd sample along the way) and have gotten to learn what makes each site, like the whiskies they produce, unique.

We are proud that in our more than two decades of working with Scotland’s finest producers, we have had, in some small way, the opportunity to leave our own mark and become part of the current and future chapters of the great whisky story.

To all our customers in the whisky sector, to you this weekend, we’ll raise a glass and say to you happy World Whisky Day, slainte!

Administrative Professionals Day 2022

Today, 21st April 2022, is Administrative Professionals Day. The day to acknowledge the work of administrators, receptionists, secretaries, Personal and Executive Assistants, Client Services and many others working in professional administrative roles.

Originally started back in 1952 as a way to encourage more women to become secretaries (yes, we know!) the day was designed to promote the values and importance of the job that secretaries do.

Throughout the years the name and scope of the day has changed. It is now known as Administrative Professionals Day, covers a much wider range of roles and of course, it’s no longer just women the day or the field is aimed at!

Administration is core in all organisations and the requirements are often highly specialised but of course there are still some core skills that were probably just as valued back in 1952 as they are today and to mark this years’ day, we thought we’d have a look at just some of these , demonstrated by some well-known and well-loved fictional admin professionals

Or why not try our Admin Professionals Day Quiz!

GDPR represented by a padlock surrounded by the european stars

Happy Anniversary to the GDPR

This week, the General Data Protection Regulations will have been in force for a year. This time back in 2017 we were all experiencing an onslaught of emails and texts from companies begging us not to leave them, desperate to be able to still hold on to our precious data. For many there was a lot of confusion and understandably some real concern about what lay ahead. Lists of things to ensure compliance seemed to be never-ending and GDPR was the theme of every workshop, meeting and webinar.

So, looking back one year on, what did we learn from this experience and what difference has it really made to data-rich businesses like ours?

Scottish Engineering: Bridges, cautious optimism and the sunshine city

Driving across the new Queensferry Crossing on route to Dundee (sunshine capital of Scotland) to attend the Scottish Engineering district meeting, I am reminded how staggering an engineering feat the new bridge really is. Looking to the right I see the iconic Rail Bridge and I realise how entwined Scotland and engineering have been over the past 100 plus years, not to mention the feeling of national pride at how awesome Scotland really is!
