Interesting, isn’t it, what academics research?
A recent study from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee claims that men with wider faces are ‘more devious and willing to cheat’ while thinner faced men are ‘more likely to be honest and open’.
It got me thinking about the power of observation and how we make assumptions about people without them even having to look at us never mind speak to us.
So at long last LinkedIn are actually nailing their colours to the mast, for many months I’ve suspected that the ‘business networking tool’ was actually becoming a recruitment database, cleverly marketed but none-the-less a recruitment tool and it seems that with recent news it is now moving further into this terrain. So the new Bribery Act comes into play in July this year. While it is understandable in terms of what it is trying to achieve it is probably going to be very difficult for sensible employers to draw a line between what is a ‘bribe’ and what is a legitimate business activity.
