Industry Interview: Laser-Based Production Processes
At this year’s SMAS Annual Conference, we met with Veronica Ferguson, Industrial Outreach Officer from the ‘ESPRC Centre for Innovative Manufacturing in Laser-Based Production Processes’ and heard how, as part of the UK National Centre led by Heriot Watt University, they are working with industry partners to develop new ways of using lasers in UK manufacturing, helping organisations across Scotland and the UK to take advantage of the latest innovations and developments in this rapidly growing field.

Do you have any questions? Part 1
At interviews candidates expect, and are hopefully prepared to answer questions. However are we prepared to ask questions as well?
And as hirers and recruiters are we prepared to turn the tables and be the ones answering questions for a change?
Back to School….
Last week I returned to my old school, Kirkcaldy High, for the first time since leaving as a sixth year pupil back in 1991. My colleague Laura and I had been invited by Audrey Diamond, Kirkcaldy High’s Principal Teacher of Guidance to take part in their 5th year student’s induction day. It was a fantastic event aimed at inspiring the 15 and 16 year olds to make the most of their year ahead by focussing on a number of key themes including enterprise, employability and creating opportunities for their own success and development.
